In-Person Workshops (3 Class Series): Watercolor for Beginners
Find your inner artist through the magical world of watercolor!
This three-part course will introduce you to the watercolor materials and paints, as well as the basic techniques that artists use. This course is meant for both beginner painters and those who want a good review class on the foundations of watercolor. A material list will be sent to those who register.
Class 1: PICKING UP A BRUSH
This class is designed to show the painter the basic art supplies used in watercolor painting. Together, we will be performing exercises on how to break down the watercolor paint and perform various brushstrokes. Finally, we will work on a painting using these newly learned brushstrokes.
Class 2: WATERCOLOR WASHES
This class is all about color… how to mix together different paints and how to use the colors on wet surfaces to get a gorgeous blending of colors (washes). Once again, we will be doing color mixing exercises, followed by a painting that relies heavily on mixed colors and washes.
Class 3: LET’S PAINT A PICTURE
This class is different than the other two; this time, we are going to learn how to paint a picture. I’ll give you photographs to work with, and you will learn how to use these as references in your painting. We’ll be discussing how to compose a painting and the steps in completing that painting. The final project will be your first painting on your own!
